Why don’t more barbershop groups sing about love and murder in Latin nightclubs?  This arrangement of “Copacabana” was a commission received just before the pandemic from the Minnesota quartet Hi-Mark.  I’d been eyeing the song for a long time and I’m grateful they gave me the opportunity to do it. Unfortunately, the pandemic took away their opportunity to perform it immediately. Hopefully it will take the world by storm sooner or later. I’m dying to see this performed in public, because I am tickled at my own idea of adding an original intro that misleads the listener into thinking it’s a sappy love ballad.
Feel free to let me know whether you think the 3/8 bit works (my family is divided).
