This song has grown on me ever since I did it. It’s a lesser-known Barry Manilow ballad called “Somewhere Down the Road,” about heartbreak and hope, which I did for a local quartet, 85th Street Connection. I can’t help psychoanalyzing the narrator – what is he thinking, what does he truly believe, how wrong is he in that belief, and why does he hold that belief? She’s not coming back, but he’s holding out hope anyway. Maybe your group will perform it somewhere down the road.
